Update for 2017
With 2017 almost drawing to an end, we thought we’d take the time to look back on an infographic for late 2016 to see just how relevant it is it to Web Design as 2017 draws to a close.
#1 Site speed – Is still, if not more than, important than ever! Technology, Content Delivery Networks and better compression tools are enabling web developers to deliver web experiences to mobile devices that just a few years ago would of taken minute after minute to load, that now take just split seconds to load.
#2 Mobile users – Mobile users are up again this year and yet so many mobile websites are still under-optimised. A mobile first approach to design is often taken for many, but still many businesses are having issues with their mobile website being more of an after-thought. Just having a responsive WordPress template is not enough, your mobile design needs to be tailored to your mobile users based on your Conversion Rate Optimisation research.
#3 User Experience is a big buzz word used throughout 2017. Many designers are now taking into account how a user will interact with a website and what their experience will be like across different devices and screen resolutions. No longer do Graphic Designers rule the earth, but the rise of the expert UX Architect is a big trend that we saw in 2017.
